Hi Everyone, Sibyl Here,
I heard from both Stephi and Phaedra that
they had a wonderful time together this weekend.
They even got out to catch the movie,
"Juno". Phaedra was excited to find out Southwest
has a direct flight from KC to Burbank that does not
cost an arm and a leg, so just like Arnold "She will be back."
Stephi is still having trouble sleeping
and on Monday the pain was back.
This morning was even a bit harder though. Stephi
always becomes very upset whenever she hears
of another Myeloma patient passing away
and today was no exception. This time it was
Ron Scheider, the actor in "Jaws", "All that Jazz"
and "Hillstreet Blues". I told Stephi there were some
good things that she can look at from this: The
attention given his and Peter Boyle and (still surviving)
Geraldine Ferraro to their disease, helps to put
a face to the disease and spotlight it into attract funding
to fighting it. Think of what happened when Rock Hudson
got AIDS, Gilda Radner got Ovarian cancer and that supersister
of Susan Komen who took on Breast cancer . More
awareness, more research, better chances for cure.
Also, Scheider was 16 years older and had a history of
smoking, drinking and whatever else...things that have not
wrecked Stephi's body. We talk very straightforwardly about
these things. I want to encourage Stephi to talk to everyone
about her fears. Talking about it chips it down to size.
Stephi's yoga instructor came today. Stephi called me after the
lesson and told me she was amazed at how much it helped to
allievate the pain. I am so glad that is beginning to work.
That's all today.
Love,
Sib
